Meet Laura - Your Newmarket Piano Teacher

Inspiration
My love for music started young, inspired by my grandmother's piano playing. I fondly remember her saying “oopsey daisy” every time I fell off the bench!

Education
My lessons began at age 9 studying with several talented teachers. I achieved Royal Conservatory of Music Level 10, played clarinet and sang in various ensembles. I later attended Western University for music. Music is a lifelong journey. I continuously expand my skills, including learning new pieces and playing duets with friends. This passion keeps me inspired and brings fresh experiences to my students.

Teaching Experience
From my home studio in Newmarket, ON I've taught students of all ages and abilities, including those with special needs. Whether it's passing Royal Conservatory exams, learning pop songs, or preparing for performances, I tailor lessons to each student's goals. My lessons often include fun, hands-on activities like using percussion instruments.

Outside the Studio
When I’m not teaching, I spend time with my husband and sons whenever our schedules line up. I love that there’s always something new to learn in music, and I enjoy working on pieces just for myself and going to concerts for inspiration. To relax, I meditate, make origami, and catch up with friends over dinner or while travelling.
